Campaign Objective
Henry Baker started working with us in January 2026 with 0 monthly listeners and a clear goal: build enough reach and momentum to support his debut album release.
Rather than jumping straight into album promotion, we used the first three months to build awareness around individual singles, increase popularity scores and trigger Spotify's algorithmic ecosystem before widening the campaign into a longer-term audience strategy.
The objectives were to build monthly listeners, improve popularity scores across single releases, trigger algorithmic playlists and create enough momentum before launching the album.
Campaign Strategy
The first phase used playlisting to activate three singles before the album: Century, Good Phone and American Marriage.
Between January and March 2026, we built Henry's audience release by release rather than sending traffic straight to the full album. Century began with a six-week Pro Playlisting campaign, then the same playlist-led process was repeated for Good Phone and American Marriage.
The strategy was to secure relevant playlist placements that could generate steady streams from matched listeners, increase saves and playlist adds, and lift each song's popularity score toward the level where Spotify's recommendation surfaces are more likely to respond.
Those signals helped Henry grow from 0 monthly listeners to more than 16,000 monthly listeners, while his catalogue reached an average popularity score of 18/100. The aim was to give Spotify clearer data around stream velocity, repeat listening and listener fit, increasing the chances of Radio, Discover Weekly and Smart Shuffle continuing the momentum after active pitching had finished.

Release One
Century
Century was the first proof point, generating 27,000 streams during the initial campaign period and lifting the track's popularity score to 31/100.
The six-week Pro Playlisting campaign was designed to build enough stream velocity to help Spotify understand where the track belonged. Because Discover Weekly and similar recommendation surfaces often need stronger popularity signals, pushing Century above the 30/100 range gave the song a better chance of continuing after the active pitching window.
That is exactly what happened. Even after the campaign ended, Century continued building long-tail streams, while the popularity score later tapered as campaign stream velocity reduced.

This Chartmetric streams graph shows Century's long-tail campaign curve. After the six-week playlisting campaign created the initial stream velocity, Spotify streams continued climbing beyond 31k over the following months instead of dropping off as a short-term spike.

The report snapshot recorded 30,000+ streams, 21,287 listeners, 2,331 playlist adds and 486 saves for Century. This represents a 13.2% intent rate from saves and playlist adds, comfortably above the 5-10% industry standard for healthy engagement. The current Spotify for Artists image now shows all-time streams at 31,404, with continued 28-day activity from 221 streams, 128 listeners, 30 playlist adds and 5 saves.

Release Two
Good Phone
Six weeks later, Good Phone repeated the strategy and reached an even higher 32/100 popularity score.
The campaign generated 22,000 streams in its first six weeks and began receiving algorithmic support through Spotify Radio, Discover Weekly and Smart Shuffle.
By June 2026, despite no promotion being run since February, Good Phone was still generating more than 150 streams per day and continued receiving algorithmic support from Spotify.

Release Three
American Marriage
American Marriage completed the first phase, leaving Henry with three activated songs from the album before the wider project strategy began.
By this point, three songs had stronger popularity scores, algorithmic traction had been established and Henry had a much larger listener base than when the work began. That meant the campaign could shift from pure reach-building into fan conversion.

Album Strategy
With three songs activated, the campaign moved from reach-building into fan conversion through a Playlist Growth campaign.
For American Marriage as an album, we shifted away from relying purely on playlisting and used targeted advertising to build a listener environment around a curated playlist called Cinematic Indie.
Henry's music sits in a dark alternative and indie space. The playlist was designed to attract listeners already aligned with that world, with artists including Weezer, Fontaines D.C., Kurt Cobain and Elliott Smith strategically placed within the playlist.
The campaign targeted top-tier music markets including the United States, Canada, Germany and Australia. The goal was to build genuine super-fans around a specific sound and aesthetic, not just chase additional streams.
Album Results
Across the album, excluding songs playlisted individually, Henry collected 73,000+ streams.
More than 17,000 of those streams came during June alone, despite it being four months since active promotion had taken place. The album also generated 4,467 saves and a 4.3 stream-to-listener ratio.
The four-week Starter Playlist Growth campaign generated 934 playlist saves for Cinematic Indie. The aim was to give every album track a better chance of becoming discoverable through playlists and bringing in new listeners. At the same time, it gave Henry a repeatable marketing strategy he could keep using for future releases.
Long-Term Audience Growth
Months after promotion ended, Henry was still sitting consistently around 5,000 monthly listeners.
Monthly listeners naturally fluctuate after a campaign finishes, so retention became the more important signal. Around 45% of Henry's monthly listeners are now active listeners, meaning approximately 2,300 people return each month through Henry's own playlist, Spotify algorithmic playlists and their personal libraries.
In addition, 78% of Henry's streams now come from active listeners. For this campaign, that is the clearest sign that playlisting created the initial reach and Playlist Growth converted that reach into a sustainable audience.
Conclusion
Henry's campaign turned a zero-listener starting point into a repeatable release system.
The single campaigns built reach, popularity-score momentum and algorithmic discovery. The album phase then used Playlist Growth to convert that attention into a more defined listener community. The result is not only more streams, but a clearer marketing framework Henry can continue building on with every future release.
