02 What is an ISRC?
An ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is a 12-character code that identifies a particular sound recording, for example GBAYE0601498. Your distributor usually assigns one when you release. This finder displays the code held in Spotify’s catalogue.
03 Reading your ISRC lookup result
Compare the artist, title, album and duration before selecting a result. A live recording, remix or other version may appear alongside the track you intended to find.
Keep the code with the matching release details. If the result conflicts with your distributor’s metadata, ask them to confirm the correct entry before using it for release administration.

Does finding an ISRC prove who owns the recording?
No. This finder returns catalogue metadata. It does not verify ownership, permissions or royalty payments.
Does the finder search every recording worldwide?
No. It uses Spotify metadata for the GB market. Recordings unavailable through that catalogue response may not appear, even if they are released elsewhere.
How do I find an ISRC for an unreleased track?
Check your distributor dashboard or ask your label. This lookup cannot retrieve a recording that is not yet available through Spotify’s catalogue.
Can I look up other artists’ releases?
Yes. You can search public catalogue entries for other artists without proving ownership or connecting their accounts.
What does a missing code or no result mean?
It means the lookup did not return a matching recording or usable ISRC. It does not prove that no code exists. Check your spelling, try a direct track link or confirm the code with the distributor.
Is the ISRC Finder free, and do I need to sign up?
It is free to use without creating a Decent account or signing in to Spotify.
Why can’t I see every track from an album or search?
Text searches return up to eight matches, and album lookups cover up to the first 50 tracks. A direct track link can help you retrieve a recording outside those results.
Do you store the track or data I submit?
The finder accepts text or links, not audio uploads, and sends the query through the site’s server to Spotify. It does not create a saved search history in the application. Server and third-party processing may still apply; see the privacy policy.
Can this tool assign a new ISRC?
No. It can only show a code already present in the returned metadata. Ask your distributor or consult IFPI’s guidance if you need a code assigned.
