Swiss artist Simao Imani returns with “Jeune Enfant”, a heartfelt new single that blends neo-soul, alternative R&B, jazz, indie folk and indie pop into an intimate reflection on growing up, healing and reconnecting with the child within. Running for 3 minutes and 14 seconds, the track offers a gentle yet powerful reminder that personal growth begins with compassion for every version of ourselves.
Drawing inspiration from artists including Blood Orange, SZA, Clairo, Bon Iver, Laufey, Grent Perez and Brent Faiyaz, Simao Imani creates music that pairs warm, organic production with reflective songwriting and understated vocals. Rooted in honesty and emotional depth, the project explores themes of self acceptance, vulnerability and hope.
“Jeune Enfant” was born from the image of navigating life aboard a boat, using the journey as a metaphor for the relationship between our younger and adult selves. The song imagines these two versions of ourselves learning to work together, rather than against each other, in order to find peace and move forward.
The single also marks an important personal milestone for Simao Imani. While English has often felt like the more natural language for songwriting, “Jeune Enfant” is written entirely in French. Influenced by Laufey’s storytelling and orchestral sensibility, the artist embraced the challenge of creating lyrics that felt equally authentic and emotionally resonant in their native language.
“I usually begin by freestyling melodies or words before shaping the lyrics more thoroughly around them,” says Simao Imani. “Jeune Enfant is an invitation to reconnect with the part of ourselves we sometimes leave behind. I hope it encourages listeners to embrace their inner child with compassion and remember that healing often begins by listening to that voice.”
