Canadian-born, Bristol-bred, London-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Noah Villeneuve today releases his highly anticipated debut solo album, Songs of Noah Villeneuve, a 10-track collection of melancholic indie folk, alternative rock, Americana and pop-infused songwriting that charts a transformative period of personal reflection, sobriety and emotional growth.
Known for his achingly honest lyricism, evocative vocal delivery and memorable melodies, Villeneuve returns with his first solo project after years spent performing throughout the UK’s underground music scene. Written in the wake of profound personal change, Songs of Noah Villeneuve documents the complexities of heartbreak, recovery, codependency and learning to navigate romantic relationships through the lens of newfound sobriety.
The album unfolds as a narrative journey, moving through guilt, confusion, frustration and sorrow before arriving at reflection, acceptance and renewal. While deeply autobiographical, Villeneuve’s songwriting resonates through its universal exploration of love, loss, memory and self-examination.
“Songs of Noah Villeneuve is really about holding up a mirror to myself,” says Villeneuve. “It’s an album about the fallout of an intense love, the lessons that come from recovery, and learning how to exist honestly within yourself and your relationships. At the same time, there’s a real sense of freedom running through the record. It’s the first music I’ve released since 2021 and my first solo project, so there’s a joy in creating and sharing again that feels incredibly important.”
Musically, the album moves fluidly between intimate indie folk confessionals and expansive guitar-driven alternative rock, drawing inspiration from artists such as Bleachers, The Magnetic Fields, Waxahatchee, Broken Social Scene, The National, Elliott Smith, Leonard Cohen, MJ Lenderman, Lizzy McAlpine and The Cure. The result is a collection that feels both timeless and contemporary; beautifully vulnerable yet irresistibly melodic.
Early listeners have described the record as “beautifully intimate, heartbreaking, mystical indie brilliance,” praising its ability to balance emotional depth with infectious songwriting.
Produced, mixed and mastered by Josh Gallop at Stage 2 Studios in Bath, the album showcases Villeneuve’s talents as both songwriter and musician, performing guitar, bass, piano and vocals across the record. Additional contributions come from drummer Billy Golding, pedal steel player David Klinke Jørgensen and violinist Jessica Roch.
