Rising singer-songwriter Mya Angelique introduces her latest single, “Teenage Popstar,” an infectious pop-rock release that explores the highs, uncertainties, and emotional complexity of coming of age in a culture where attention and approval often feel inseparable.

Driven by memorable melodies and thoughtful songwriting, “Teenage Popstar” captures the tension between chasing recognition and staying true to yourself. The track follows the emotional journey of a young person balancing ambition, self-doubt, and the desire to belong, offering a candid look at how dreams, expectations, and self-image can shape the teenage experience.

“‘Teenage Popstar’ is about wanting to be seen while trying not to lose yourself in the process,” says Mya Angelique. “It’s a reflection on the fantasies we create, the pressure we put on ourselves, and the realization that growing up means learning who you are beyond everyone else’s expectations.”

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Mya Angelique has dedicated more than fourteen years to developing her musicianship. She began her formal training at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico before continuing her musical education in New York. She is currently studying Music Composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she continues to shape her voice as a songwriter, composer, and artist.

Following her debut EP, Paper Girls, which featured songs written throughout her teenage years, Mya has continued to build a catalogue rooted in personal storytelling and emotional authenticity. Influenced by artists including Olivia Rodrigo, Gracie Abrams, Lorde, and Maisie Peters, she blends introspective lyrics with polished pop and pop-rock production to create music that resonates with listeners navigating identity, friendship, self-worth, and growing up.

With “Teenage Popstar,” Mya steps confidently into a new creative era. The single expands on the vulnerability of her previous releases while embracing a sharper, more playful perspective, capturing the excitement, insecurity, and self-discovery that define adolescence.

Appealing to fans of Olivia Rodrigo, Gracie Abrams, and Maisie Peters, “Teenage Popstar” delivers an empowering coming-of-age soundtrack for anyone who has ever questioned where they belong while dreaming of something bigger.
