Unsigned indie rockers Feral Family have stormed the national stage, emerging from thousands of hopefuls to be named one of the Top Five finalists in a competition to support Only The Poets at the historic Brixton Academy. The band thrilled a packed crowd at Only The Poets’ hometown grassroots venue, The Purple Turtle in Reading. The achievement comes hot on the heels of a landmark week for Feral Family, who were runner-up for Best Indie Band in Radio Wigwam’s annual awards—their second consecutive nomination—and earned a spot on the iconic US station KEXP’s playlist, cementing their rising profile on both sides of the Atlantic.
Indie trio Feral Family make a fierce return with their sophomore EP, So Far Behind, released February 6, 2026. A six-track release that plays like a “condensed album,” the EP captures the band at their most visceral, cinematic, and emotionally charged to date.
Already hailed as “one of the most compelling new acts in UK alternative music” by Apricot Magazine, Feral Family continue to build serious momentum. Their sound has been described as “dark, brooding, thrillingly intense” (God Is In The TV), with “stadium energy unleashed” (Soundville) and “a relentless and vibrant surge of energy and cohesion” (RockerMag).
Blending indie, post-punk, alternative and indie-rock, So Far Behind will resonate with fans of Foals, IDLES and Fontaines D.C. Across its six tracks, the EP balances raw, riff-driven intensity with moments of vulnerability and emotional depth.
Speaking on the release, Jamie Lowe explains, “It’s more like a condensed album — six huge songs that we’re buzzing to deliver. There are some big, raw riffs in there, but the EP also peels back deeper layers of our sound. And our new drummer, Regan Grimson, brings even more heat to these tracks.”
Meanwhile, guitarist Oscar Woods promises songs rooted in “love, loss, and yearning — experiences that echo throughout your life.”
Hailing from a nowhere East Coast resort staring into the bleak North Sea, Feral Family channel a residual coastal gloom into dance-driven post-punk tales of desire, reflection and release. Inspired by the stark sagas of Frank Herbert and the widescreen drama of Sergio Leone, their music feels vast and apocalyptic — thunderous wails colliding with intimate human stories.
Following a brief hiatus after their critically acclaimed debut album Without Motion (2023), So Far Behind marks a bold new chapter for a band clearly hungry for more.
Feral Family have already achieved multiple Top 10 charting singles and received heavyweight radio support from John Kennedy (Radio X), Steve Lamacq (BBC 6 Music), and Jericho Keys / BBC Introducing, where they’ve been named Featured Artist twice. Their music has also appeared on E4’s Made in Chelsea and The Independent’s “Now Hear This” playlist.
