Northern Electric Music Festival Will Host Its 5th Edition

Northern Electric Festival is a collection of events celebrating electronic music and artists in the North East, UK. This year the festival returns for it's 5th edition, in The Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle-upon-Tyne this November 20th-21st November 2020.

This year the festival organisers are truly going the extra mile. Not only does the advance ticket price cover entry to see both amazing headliners, but they are also putting on several 'fringe' events in the month of July that are included in the ticket price as well, from off-kilter pop in Durham, to beautiful piano-led experiments at The Mining Institute - Newcastle Upon Tyne! So go grab your Early Bird tickets! For only £12 you're getting access to the whole weekend, club night, AND fringe events.

2020 headliners

This year's Headliners are both taking place at the dreamy arts venue Cobalt Studios CIC.

Big Lad - Friday November 20th

Big Lad are a Crushing Electronics and Drum Duo from London. Expect High Octane Party Bangers to the max! This band is a synth party noise machine made up of Henri Grimes (ex Sheild Your Eyes) on drums and Wayne Adams (ex Death Pedals) on synths.

They released their first album under the moniker Shitwife (2015’s ‘Big Lad’). They then decided to rename the band BIG LAD, "to confuse the crap out of everyone", which it did.

Who's ready for Big Lad?

Colossal Squid - Saturday November 21st

Colossal Squid is a brand new project from Adam Betts. Adam is the drummer in legendary experimental math group Three Trapped Tigers. He also drums live for Goldie, Squarepusher and more. Following the release of his debut solo album, Adam hit upon a unique way of creating music with a drum kit and electronic pads - from which Colossal Squid was born. His first two releases feature vocals from some of his personal favourites - Saint Saviour (Groove Armada) and AK Patterson.

Who else is performing?

Some of the confirmed acts for 2020: Andrew Wallace, Badger, Niall Bert Verso, Big Lad, Blamire, Calum Howard, Colossal Squid, Crimewave, Faithful Johannes, HOLY Braille, John Dole, Kev Nephilim, Mark Wardlaw, Psydove, Shamu, Sonomac, Spell Token, SQUARMS, Ten Sticks, Tunnel Club, Twin Beam, and Vigilance State.
