Indietronica duo Moodbay have dropped stunning new track 'Like Nobody Else' in time for summer. Everyone’s seen the Botticelli painting in question… a windswept Venus emerges from the sea, standing in a huge shell. It’s a classic image, reproduced millions of times. From that meme, Anna and her partner Alfie have developed a cracking pop tune, with an unforgettable chorus and driving, 8Os influenced synth lines.
'Like Nobody Else' has already made it on to the A Playlist on BBC Radio Wales, and was also been crowned as 'Track Of The Week' over on the band's local BBC Introducing Tees show, with support from presenter Rianne Thompson.
The pair wrote this tune at the start of the year, and wanted to fuse elements of their signature electronic pop, drawing influences from Christine and The Queens, The Weeknd and Chvrches, with more indie-inclined music in the vein of UK rockers Foals.
Moodbay's unusual shade of electropop incorporates a range of genres from R&B to Classical - the duo describe their sound as ‘moodpop’. Moodbay are producer-songwriter Alfie Cattell from Denbigh in Wales and vocalist-songwriter Anna Stephens who hails from the Darlington area. They got together in 2017, after meeting in the corridor of BIMM music school in Manchester.
